ANCIENT EGYPT: A Thematic Cultural Curriculum: Objectives: The Students Will: 1 Depict in a 3D diorama Egyptians gathering food from the Nile (People and the Environment) 2 Draw people in society and their jobs (People in Society) 3 Depict Egyptian beliefs through architecture and images (People and their Beliefs) Procedure: The students take notes placing activities and people in the appropriate cultural theme while viewing a presentation on Ancient Egypt. The students select theme and use the Art Activity Work Box* to plan their project. Teacher presents a demonstration on techniques of selected materials. Art Language: Culture, Shapes, Overlap, Background/Middle-ground/Foreground, 2-D Images & 3-D Forms, Proportion, Details, Texture Assessment - each group answers the Students’ Art Project Rubric. *Worksheet in book, Cultural Voices Art project created by fifth grade students This thematic Egyptian Curriculum was presented to students grades third through fifth at Bryant Elementary School, in Mableton, Georgia.
